News and Announcements

We have 2 announcements this month.

1) You may have seen our flyer for a seminar planned for April 9th:
How to Get Hired as a Process Operator, featuring recruiters from ExxonMobil.
Sadly, that seminar has been CANCELLED. We are working to reschedule for June.

2) There has been an update regarding the library funding tax millage.
The Library Administration and the Mayor’s Office reached an agreement for
a new proposal called Thrive! Baton Rouge. This compromise would allow the library
to keep its dedicated millage, but at a reduced rate - 8.3 mills instead of the previous
11.1 - with the remaining 2.8 mills going to a general fund that the Mayor’s Office
can use for other purposes. Thrive! Baton Rouge includes similar plans for the Council
on Aging and the Mosquito Abatement and Rodent Control Department.
